FreeAlberta

This father/son blog is dedicated to the furtherance of the independence movement in Alberta. It has been made abundantly clear that Alberta is the victim of tyranny by the majority. There is no indication that this will ever change. It is time to leave, to go our separate ways. In this blog I will focus on issues relating to Alberta Independence such as why it is necessary, what an independent Alberta might look like and how we can go about forging our independence.

PMPM Promises to Discuss Human Rights with Chinese Leaders

I'm very pleased to see that our Prime Minister is planning to address the issue of human rights with the President of China. However, I thought that he might have found a more suitable candidate from whom to receive mentoring. Of course, China does have a wide area of ethnicities and languages, so perhaps Mr. Martin thinks President Hu will provide some good ideas on how to deal with Canada’s variety of cultural distinctiveness.

The only discussion on human rights I see coming out of this will be something like this...
"So,Paulie.Tell me.How do you manage to oppress 11/13ths of your country, and not get called a godless, communistic, oligarch dictator?"

I don't like alignment with China with the intent to diminish trade ties with the US. why would we want to expand on aligning ourselves with a communist dictator? ... oh yea ... M Strong and PMPM.

In the new independent Alberta the approach should be to de-politicize trade and seek free trade as far and wide as possible - primarily with the world's largest economy as well as with the world's most populous country. Imagine now having to protect the auto-workers, steel workers, aircraft builders.

oldgaffer...why protect the unionists? One of the main reasons, besides the Liberals, that the U.S. economy and standard of living keeps outpacing us is that they have 60% LESS unionized members then Canada. This increases productivity proportionately and keeps costs down.Everybody seems to say that the U.S. has lower wages, etc.,but their cost of living is also way lower.Go figure.
And they do have laws, which are actually enforced, that do quite well at protecting non-union labour.

Excellent comment, 'justthinkin'!!!
I meant to say "Imagine NOT having to protect.."
Certainly the best protection for workers is a free, strong economy. Everyone can win in a low-tax marketplace where competition is effective and contribution rather than seniority is valued.

Just wanted to let you know: my blog readers and I have come to a decision - our counter to the Liberal movement to "wear black" and "wear red" on Fridays "until our troops come home", will be "Operation Green shirt/ Yellow ribbon".

On Fridays, to show our support for the troops AND their mission, we will wear green, and to show our hope for them to come home safe, soon, and victorious, we will also wear a yellow ribbon on our lapel or around our wrists.(pictures at my site soon) Please spread the word any way you can! Thanks in advance.

Bush says that China could stand to learn from Taiwan on human rights and the leftists attack him. Now Martin goes to China to talk human rights and it's okay. Thank God we don't believe in double standards in this country.
